Primary today...just crazy. We had just finished our 2nd practice (2 hours long!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!) for the 'presentation' next week, and I was all focused on everything that needed to be done, and changes that needed to be made, etc. when Rachel (my oldest) walks up to me. This is the point when I think...I'm not mom right now, give me a minute...but she had something in her hand that caught my eye.
She was holding 2 pieces of paper that had been cut in heart shapes. I thought I had seen a similar paper in Hannah's scripture bag during sacrament meeting, and I wondered where they came from, so I made time for this. She says to me, "Look what I got today".
I take the paper in my hand, and see this:I think to myself, "hmmmm. Interesting picture".
Me: Where did this come from?
Rachel: Bro. F gave it to me when we were starting the practice. He said that KC wanted him to give it to me for him.
Me: KC? (boy? younger than you? huh? what? lights spinning...feeling faint!)
Rachel: Yeah. What do you think it means?
Me: (in love with the fact that she's not totally sure about all this) Um...I think it means KC 'likes' you!
Rachel: Yeah, but in this one, the person's face is x'd through (there were 2 hearts...I only scanned the one without the 'x' thru the face). Maybe that means he doesn't like me. I don't get it.
Me: Well, it's sweet. He probably just thinks you're cute. Maybe the x'd out one is supposed to be him and it means he doesn't think he's good enough for you. Maybe it means he thinks he's too good for you...I have no idea.
Then we get home and start to tell Dad about it. He wants to see, so she goes and gets the hearts. That's when I see the other side of the heart (they both looked the same). It looked like this:
(If you can't read it it says, "KC and Rachel"). I said..."Um, I think this means he 'likes' you". She just giggled and said, "well, what do I do with these"?
I told her she should put them in her journal. She may have a day sometime in her life where she'll need to know that someone thought she was special enough to have their primary teacher pass her a note during church! What a sweet boy to do that...it did make her feel pretty special.
Evan is going to be so sad if he reads this...Wendy...don't let him know. (Evan LOVES Rachel, but we've never been too worried about him since he's only 6!)
I'm not sure if I'm ready for all this.........

good old bro. F, helping out the young folks. You are right about keeping the note. I wish I had a note... Rachel is so cute.
AHHH, how cute! I guess she's officially not a little girl anymore. Kinda makes me sad.
I thought the teacher was the one who reads the note to the whole class and then rips it up (that NEVER happened to me!)
I heart you too Rachel!

Sweet side pony KC drew for Rachel! She is such a cutie; I love how she didn't even know he was hitting on her (maybe that's not the correct term for a Primary crush). Bro. F passing along the love notes, now that’s dedication to a calling!
I just have to say I am so glad my babies are still babies! You keep blogging so we can all get fabulous ideas on how to handle these things! I love the idea of keeping it for a day when she needs to remember somebody thought she was special!
bummer about the scarf! we didn't make one. i bet you could just get the colors of fabric and sew strips together though! good luck!!
I'm doing the primary program too- after the 2 hour practice last week I decided it doesn't matter WHAT we do, just how cute the kids are. For this reason I will be spending extra time on my girls bows this Sunday! Maybe I'll even teach them their parts wrong so they get a laugh.
